How Glass Coverage Works

Does insurance cover windshield repair in Texas?

Glass damage falls under comprehensive coverage, not collision or liability. If you carry comprehensive — and most people financing or leasing a vehicle are required to — your windshield is very likely covered in some form.

The important distinction is between repair and replacement. Chip repair is inexpensive enough that many carriers would rather pay for it outright than pay for the replacement it becomes six months later, so a great many Texas policies cover chip repair with little or nothing out of your pocket. Replacement is a bigger number, and there your deductible normally applies. Texas is not one of the handful of states with a legislated zero-deductible glass law, so this comes down to your specific policy rather than a blanket rule.

Call us before you call your insurer

Not because we want to get in the middle of it, but because a two-minute conversation will tell you whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement. That changes the entire question of whether filing is worth it. (956) 636-8300.

What We Handle

How we make the claim side easier

We are glass technicians, not adjusters. What we do is handle the paperwork on our side properly so your claim moves without friction.

Direct Billing

We invoice your insurance company ourselves. You do not front the full cost and chase reimbursement afterwards.

We Help You File

Call us first and we will walk you through what your carrier will ask for before you pick up the phone to them.

Damage Documentation

Dated photographs of the damage and a written description of the work, which is what carriers want on file.

Correct Paperwork

Proper invoicing with the right vehicle and glass details, so claims do not stall over an avoidable clerical problem.

Honest on Deductibles

If your deductible is higher than the job costs, we will tell you that filing makes no sense. That happens more often than you would think.

Your Choice of Shop

Texas law lets you choose who does the work. If your carrier steers you elsewhere, you are entitled to say no.

The Process

How a glass claim runs

1

Call or Text Us

Send a photo of the damage. We tell you whether it is repair or replacement, and roughly what it costs.

2

Check Your Coverage

Have your policy number handy. We will help you work out whether your deductible applies and whether claiming is worth it.

3

File the Claim

You open the claim with your carrier — it is your policy. We give you everything you need to make that call short.

4

We Bill Them Direct

We do the work at your location and invoice your insurer, so the money side stays off your plate.

Know Your Rights

You choose who repairs your glass

When you file a glass claim, many carriers route you through a third-party administrator who will offer to book you with a network shop. That is a convenience, not a requirement. Texas law protects your right to choose your own repair facility, and you can tell them you have already chosen one.

The reason it matters is that network pricing agreements can push a shop toward the cheapest possible glass and the fastest possible turnaround. We would rather quote you honestly, fit glass we are willing to stand behind, and give you a proper cure time. If you want us to do the work, say so on the call — you do not need to justify it.

I had my windshield fixed today. Not only were they on time, they were really nice, and they are mobile which is very convenient if you ask me. Pricing was very affordable as well. Will strongly recommend to friends and family.

Questions about glass claims

Comprehensive glass claims are generally treated differently from at-fault accidents, and many carriers do not surcharge for them — particularly for a chip repair. That said, it varies by carrier and by your claims history, and anyone who promises you it definitely will not affect your premium is guessing. Your agent can answer this specifically, and it is worth a phone call before you file.

For many Texas policies, chip repair is covered with little or nothing out of pocket, because carriers would much rather pay sixty dollars now than several hundred later. But Texas has no law requiring it, so it depends entirely on your policy. Call us with your details and we will help you find out.

No. Texas law protects your right to choose your own repair facility. Insurers may suggest network shops, and that suggestion can be quite firm, but the decision is yours to make.

Then filing makes no sense and we will say so. If your comprehensive deductible is five hundred dollars and a chip repair costs a fraction of that, you would be opening a claim for nothing and paying it all yourself anyway. We will tell you that rather than quietly filing.

Your insurance company, policy number, the date the damage happened, and the vehicle details. That is usually enough for us to get started. If a claim number already exists, have that ready too.
